8 février 2013

Thanks

We want start this blog by tanking the teachers who were awesome and very interesting. We want speak you school that we have marked. First of all, ‘Creative Writing’ with Miss DOMINGO. This school was very interesting because we improved our English writing, creating several stories from pictures. We created also two poems. One about London like the poem of William BLAKE and another with similes. These are our poems:

London

 It’s big like a principality

We can see different square

This is why I am here

London adopted me

London is my city

You reserve for us many surprises

Inside you, there are many monuments

Indeed, you’re like my mam

You look me with your “London”-eyes

The weather is sweet like lemon

It’s thank to the underground

We can do the go around

But when will you finish your extension?

When will you finish the construction?

Tower of London

 Dark like a jail

Strong like a castle

Big like a stadium

It was for Kings and prisoners

Tower of London

Charles VEZY

London

 I'm walking on a dream

I can perceive everything

Even this little stream

It's so exciting

The glimmer of Lamps

Light the tower Bridge

I can hear from far

The ringing of Big Ben

All over the world

This strange affection

All the people say

My favorite is London

You are like a Lady

I can be your Lord

Big Ben

 Clock like eyes

High like the Everest

Built like a symbol

Impressive and beautiful

Big Ben

London

My visits to London always bring me cheer;

I wish it were possible to bottle the atmosphere.

I would collect together all the sights and sounds,

And surround myself with them, when I’m down.

A trip to London always seems to lift my mood;

By good old London town, I’m easily wooed.

There is always something new and exciting,

Which is why, to me, London seems so inviting.

I may begin a day feeling just a little bit down,

But once in London, a smile replaces my frown.

It’s one of my very favourite places to be;

There’s always so much to do and to see.

I think that London is such an amazing place;

It can suit all your needs, whatever your pace.

In central London, people are always in a rush,

But in the gardens and parks, can be found, hush.

When in London, I always feel on such a high;

My problems, for the day, I can kiss goodbye.

At the end of the day, I don’t want to leave.

The heady mix of aromas, I love to breathe.

I always find it so very hard, to pull myself away,

When, deep in my heart, I desperately want to stay.

Even when, at Waterloo, I’m sat on my train;

In London, a little piece of my heart remains.

Coffee

Black like the night

Hot as stone

Strong like torine

It is the principal good for Starbucks

Coffee

BRITISH MUSEUM

IMG_0399

The British Museum is a museum of history and human culture. It is open since 1759. This is a free museum very interesting. We can discover the human history from the beginning to today. This museum is the first place of interest.

When we arrive in the museum, there is a beautiful and huge dome.

The British Museum include several countries so several cultures. In fact, we can see the Ancient Egypt and Sudan, Greece and Rome, Middle East, Prehistory and Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania…

Obviously, we can see the one of the celebrate object. I want talk of course of the Rosetta Stone. The Rosetta Stone is an ancient Egyptian granodiorite stele inscribed with a decree. The decree appears in three scripts: the upper text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle portion Demotic script, and the lowest Ancient Greek. Because it presents essentially the same text in all three scripts (with some minor differences between them), it provided the key to the modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Certainly, there are a lot of objects also interesting each other. It is a museum that you discover if you did not go yet!

TOWER OF LONDON

IMG_0370

Tower of London is a historic castle located on North shore of River Tames. The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078, and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new ruling elite. The castle was used as a prison since at least 1100, although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under Kings Richard the Lionheart, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The Tower has served variously as an armory, a treasury, a menagerie, a public records office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.

Natural Histrory Museum

entrance

The Natural History Museum is one of the biggest museums on Exhibition Road. We can discover all its richness in differents galleries. Indeed, there are more to 70 million items which are distributed in five main collections: Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Paleontology and Zoology.

dodo

The « Dronte of Maurice », more famous with the name of DODO is one specie of endemic big Bird of Maurice Island. Related to pigeons, this Dronte lived in forests or plains. It was about one meter for an average mass of 10,2 kg. We can see one skeleton of its in the Natural Museum.

drapo nat

We can discover the United Kingdom flag, near to the skeleton dodo, which have for importance to have been in the space. It’s a symbol of the power to the country. In order to prove that this flag have been in space, astronauts took a fragment of a rock which was on the moon. It was during the apollo 17 mission.

meteorite

Furthermore, in the mineral stones gallery, we can see a meteoric iron. A meteoric is a natural solid extraterrestrial origin which crossed the atmosphere and haven’t lose all its mass that reachs the Earth’s surface.

nat8

The Blue Whale is the bigest animal which live on earth in our time.It can exceed 30 meters in length and 170 tons. We can learn it in animal gallery.

trex

The dinosaur’s gallery is the best gallery for me. We can look differents species skeleton with, of course, the famous T-Rex dinosaur. It was one of the biggest carnivorous of the Jurassic era.

nat4

In this gallery, we can learn too, that some species of our era are the descendant of some species to the Jurassic era like elephants, antelopes and ducks for example.

So the Natural History Museum is a place with beautiful items with amazing stories.

London Stadiums: the Olympic Stadium and the Emirates Stadium

During our stay in London, we had the chance to visit two of the biggest stadiums of London, the Emirates Stadium and the Olympic Stadium

 emirates stadiumOlympic_Stadium_(London),_16_April_2012

Indeed, 1/13/2013, we went to the Emirates Stadium to watch the match Arsenal - Manchester City, match between two clubs belonging to the ten richest clubs in the world and between the 4th of the Premier League and the champion last year's.

IMG_0364

This match was very intense, but finally, ManchesterCity won 0-2.

Tickets to see a game in this stadium was expensive but I think it is worth considering the quality of entertainment offered by both teams as well as modern infrastructure offered by the stadium.

Indeed, we also admired the magnificent Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal plays since 2006.

The Emirates Stadium, with a capacity of 60.361 is the third-largest football stadium in England after Wembley and Old Trafford and fifth-largest in the United Kingdom

The grass was wonderfully green, the design of the building was incredibly beautiful, the seats and infrastructures, red and white, are reminiscent the colors of the club, and the athmospere was incredible. This stadium is at the cutting edge of sports entertainment venues.

Another monument of London sport, the Olympic Stadium, which is located at Olympic Park in Stratford. It was constructed primarily to serve as the Olympic Stadium for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. The stadium had a capacity of 80,000, making it the third-largest stadium in England behind Wembley Stadium and Twickenham Stadium.

During a group outing, we went to visit the Olympic site, and we observed far from the stadium, instead of the exploits of international athletes last summer.

IMG_0372

We can observe that Stratford was a neighborhood full expension, but there is still a lot of work.

By 2030, Stratford become a modern residential area, located near the City, the business district of London, and where we will find the modern sports complex used during the Olympic Games.
